Where we are
Hotel Milkyway is located in Aru valley, just a short trip (30 mins) from Pahalgam, 6 – 9 hours from Jammu, and 3 hours from Srinagar. Aru valley, surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains, is the premier trekking destination in Kashmir. This valley is ideal for experiencing remote mountain trekking, pristine native forests, and vibrant glaciers and lakes. Additionally, the Aru valley is situated within the Aru Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a wide variety of birds, mammals, and flora. At 2414 meters in the astonishing Himalayas, there is no better way to spend a peaceful vacation than being enveloped by the mesmerizing and soothing vocals of alpine rivers and the rich cultural life of the Aru valley.
What we do
Milkyway is a full-service company, meaning we consistently offer comfortable and clean accommodation and a variety of tour packages, including trekking/camping tours, horse-riding, trout-fishing, and alpine skiing. Our full-service status also entails that we provide meals and transportation services, and if advised in advance, we can also arrange to have you picked up from the Srinagar Airport or anywhere in Kashmir.
Who we are
In 1987, “Milkyway” was established as our company’s official name because of the magnificent view of the galaxy and stars from the hotel. Milkyway Hotel was founded in 1980 by a great local personality by the name of Mr. Assadullah Malik, who from a young age served the global travellers in Kashmir. Later, Malik’s elder son, Mr. Fayaz Malik, and his brothers took charge of the hospitality and tour service. Since then, Milkyway has proudly strived to provide excellent service of hospitality and travel and adventure activities, as well as over the two decades of local Kashmir art manufacturing of Pashmina shawls, handmade jewelry and carpets, and gemstones.
How to reach Milkyway Aru Valley
BY AIR: From New Delhi (IGI Airport), domestic flights are available to Srinagar International Airport in Kashmir.
BY ROAD: Trains are available from New Delhi to Jammu, and several bus services throughout India provide transport to Jammu; from Jammu, sharing Jeeps and taxi services are available to Aru Valley, Pahalgam.

Aru valley is a lovely place to stay at any time of year; from June through August, the summer season averages a pleasant 20 – 25 degrees C (68 – 77 degrees F). If you fancy skiing or snow trekking, the winter season spreads from December to March, with waist-deep powder and plenty of opportunity for winter sports and snowy activities. Autumn and spring are also ideal seasons for travel in Aru with a stunning spectrum of colours in the autumn forests, and picturesque snow-capped mountains and flourishing greenery in spring.
Here at Milkyway Hotel, we are pleased to offer 7 double bed rooms, 3 family rooms (each family room has three beds), 1 three-beded two room Cottage and 1 two-beded two room cottage. These rooms are available throughout the entire year.
